1929 Orchestra Model
In 1929, Perry Bechtel, a popular banjo player from Atlanta, Georgia
wanted a renown guitar maker to build a flat top guitar to which
he could easily adapt when converting to playing guitar. The flat
top guitar was on the rise in the American band but most only
had 12 frets clear of the body - he was asking for 15. Later that
year, the guitar company built 12 of the new prototype. From 1930
to 1934 they built almost 1080 more OMs (or Orchestra Models).
With 14 frets clear, an updated body design, and a longer scale
length than previous models, this guitar has become mythic. Now
it is a Mythic Guitar. Like the first prototypes from 1929 which
did not have pickguards, the Mythic1929 OM Reproductions are presented
without pickguards also. They are accurate in every possible detail
from the bar frets to the banjo tuners.
